Blonde is Back

On June 26th in Sacramento, California, a panel of 70 certified beer judges finished their tastings of some 867-odd California-brewed craft beers. After measuring up each and every brew based on taste, color, and quality, there was only one beer that stood above the rest: Angel City L.A. Blonde.

L.A. Blonde winning Best of Show is a consecutive win for us at the California State Fair Craft Beer Competition, as we also brought home a golden bear for our California Common back in 2019 (2020 & 2021 were postponed thanks to Covid), which makes Angel City the first brewery to win the award back-to-back in the history of the competition – to say we’re honored is an understatement… We’re completely and utterly STOKED!!

L.A. Blonde has been a Public House favorite for a while now, but to see it get its 15 minutes of fame brings a tear of joy to our eyes. We always believed in this beer being one of the best, most easy-drinking yet flavorful brews in California, and winning Best of Show just validates what we already knew to be true.

It’s a perfect base for micheladas.

– Layton Cutler, Head Brewer

“What an incredible feeling it is to win the Golden Bear for Best of Show again.” Says our Head Brewer Layton Cutler, “We were thrilled to win it with our California Common in 2019, but to receive the honor again, now for our L.A. Blonde, is just mind-blowing. We love brewing quality beer in California, and getting this recognition for brewing a Best of Show-worthy beer is beyond our wildest dreams.”

L.A. Blonde is that golden-hued, highly crushable brew that’s made perfect for summer evenings kicking it in the backyard, a fall Sunday watching the game, or a day at the beach any time of year. Layton also has a few pairing suggestions of his own, “Since it’s a light-tasting ale, it goes well with a lot of spicy food, tacos, and mild cheeses. Pairing with outdoor BBQs is a good idea too, and it’s a perfect base for making micheladas.”

We’re incredibly proud to brew beer amongst some of the best here in California, and LA’s beer scene is seemingly growing each and every day. As one of the oldest breweries in town, we’ve seen a lot of transformation to the local craft scene over the years, but we’ve also undergone a bit of a transformation for ourselves – for years now, we’ve been working nonstop at stepping up our craft beer game. Whether it be innovating on some tasty fruited sours, experimental chili beers, or simply nailing down the classic styles, we’re consistently pushing ourselves to improve the overall quality of our craft.

With one of the best varieties of rotating taps in town and plenty of awards to back it up, if you haven’t been around Angel City in a while you may as well have hot a new brewery to come pay a visit to.

Come on down today, we actually just tapped a fresh new batch of L.A. Blonde for you to try.
