Piquettes and grisettes are low ABV beverages for French farmhands and Belgian miners, respectively. We teamed up with our LA River neighbors at Dry River Brewing to bring you all a refreshing little sipper. A small Farmhouse Saison fermented Grisette lays the foundation. We received a few hundred pounds of pressed, dry Syrah grape skins (aka pomace) from Angeleno Wine Company that was leftover from their wine making. The grisette was used to hydrate that grape pomace during a month-long maceration to extract some interesting tannins and piquette-like flavors. Finally, we aged the beer in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels for 9 months with a combination of Dry River and Angel City sour and mixed fermentation yeast cultures. The grape skin contact gave it a light pink/orange hue and aromas reminiscent of tangerines and dandelions with a touch of black pepper. This refreshing beer has a very soft sour note with hints of clove, star fruit, peach and oak.

Pearwolves of London Beer Release

Angel City Brewery & Public House

Come pick up one of our Batch 2000: Pearwolves of London (Gin Barrel Aged) – To commemorate our 2000th batch at Angel City we brewed up a Pear Saison with Gin botanicals similar to a London-style Gin. We took a portion of Batch 2000 and placed it in ex-Gin barrels with more Pear puree and some Lacto and Brett cultures to let it age and get funky for almost a year. The barrel aging and mixed fermentation cultures definitely turned it up a notch by adding interesting tartness, oak and nuanced barnyard character. Hints of pear still remain to balance out with some of the more aromatic herbal notes of the gin botanicals: Spruce, Juniper, Ginger, Orange peel, Tangerine Peel, Lemon peel, Coriander and Chamomile. It’s a Full Moon kind of beverage that is sure to unleash some howls. Place your orders on our e-store to get yours now https://angel-city-brewery.square.site/
