Eastside Dampfbier

Born on the banks of the pre-concrete Los Angeles River, The Los Angeles Brewing Company’s Eastside Beer was brewed for citizens of an expanding city. The Angel City Eastside series is a revival of that classic brand.

To kick off another Eastside beer we found an old, obscure beer style called Dampfbier. Its German for “Steam beer” but it is unlike the American version from the west. The style has some mystery behind it but is believed to be an all barley, amber colored beer that uses warm fermenting German Weissbier yeast. In terms of flavor think of it as a hefeweizen with banana and clove aromas, but without the wheat.
