Caramel Apple Gose

Gose (Goes-eh) is a very old German beer style that has been making a splash here in the United States. It is traditionally a low alcohol, low hopped sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. We decided to ditch the coriander and use caramel sauce and apples to blend in nicely with the saltiness. Our version still has those traditional elements, like being soured with Lactobacillus, but our use of caramel, apples, vanilla and lactose all make for a refreshing treat. It’s one of the privileges of being an adult but is reminiscent of being a kid.
