Let’s just say we decided to merge them into a delicious treat called Sufganikvass. Coming in at 8% ABV for the 8 crazy nights of candle lighting and gift giving, this Imperial Berry Kvass is a real Hanukkah beer for when the sun goes down. We put whole loaves of Sourdough Rye bread straight in the mash from our friends down at Long Beach Beer Lab and Bread Lab for a nice bread backbone. Then kettle-soured with Sourdough yeast starter and lactobacillus. Finally we added blueberry and raspberry juice to the fermenter to give a tangy and jam-like flavor, just like the donuts your bubbe used to make.
